The term owes it’s origins to the idea that a footprint is what has been left behind as a result of an individuals activities.

A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of Carbon Dioxide.

Carbon emissions are a significant cause of global warming and it is therefore constructive for individuals, nations and organisations to conceptualise their impact in contributing to global warming. A conceptual tool in response to carbon footprints are carbon offsets. A carbon offset is the alleviation of carbon emissions through the development of alternative projects such as solar or wind energy or reforestation.

Some suppliers of mygreenlipstick are already purchasing carbon offsets. As a result, when goods are shipped to us for you to enjoy, they give something back to the environment; balancing what has been taken out during their journey to you. If no carbon offset has been purchased, as they have, until now, been mainly dealing with customers in their own countries, mygreenlipstick has purchased a carbon offset, so that you too can enjoy the fabulous pieces on offer. It is hoped that soon all our suppliers will be purchasing carbon offsets as a matter of course.
