Vegan

Many vegans believe that to use animals, which are without choice in the matter, is a form of exploitation & should be avoided. Many believe a vegan way of life is not only healthier but that it is kinder to the environment & of course to the animals.

Many vegans believe that to use animals, which are without choice in the matter, is really a form of exploitation & should be avoided. They do not wish to take part in exploitation just as some people do not to purchase clothing made in sweatshop conditions. Many also believe that a vegan way of life is not only healthier but that it is kinder to the environment & of course to the animals.

In countries where leather is a main trade, where laws do exist, in the third world for example, it is very difficult to enforce animal protection, as the laws are so easy to break. There is trade in skins from zebras, deer, alligators, elephants, dolphins, eels & snakes to name just a few.

Vegan leather is an artificial alternative to traditional leather. It is often chosen for ethical reasons, one being that the animal industry wastes land, causes global warming & releases both gas into the atmosphere & slurry into our rivers. The amount of waste & pollution that leather manufacturing actually generates is extraordinary, polluting not only the air but also the environment, with toxic chemicals.

Traditionally leather is treated with a process called tanning to make it last as long as possible & retain its’ flexibility, a process which some describe as unnecessary as leather artifacts can be found in museums dating back many thousands of years.

A simple way to help the planet and aid animal protection is to buy vegan products; shoes & bags are a very easy & pleasurable way to do this.
