Organic farming
Organic farming is the form of agriculture that relies on crop rotation, green manure, compost, biological pest control, & mechanical cultivation etc... to maintain soil productivity & control pests, excluding or strictly limiting the use of synthetic fertilizers & synthetic pesticides, plant growth regulators, & genetically modified organisms.
"Organic agriculture is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems & people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity & cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with adverse effects. Organic agriculture combines tradition, innovation & science to benefit the shared environment & promote fair relationships & a good quality of life for all involved.." - International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements.
